Baoshan Retirement Community

Designed for long-term flexibility in the unit mix so property can meet changing market demand over time, Baoshan converts an existing office building in downtown Shanghai to a full-service retirement community. KGRW’s programming and conceptual design included two floors of community space and two floors of healthcare, along with nine floors of independent apartments. Assisted living and skilled-care units are designed on a household rather than institutional model, with finite sets of bedrooms related to their own communal spaces for recreation and dining. Phase I is now complete and planning for Phase II is underway.
