Summit Vista Construction on Target

We’re delighted to report that construction on the new Summit Vista Life Plan Community in Taylorsville City, Utah, is progressing beautifully. KGRW began initial programming for this 100-acre site in 2014, with an eye toward creating a community that will appeal to the now-retiring Baby Boom generation. They have very different expectations and needs from the seniors that have preceded them.

Long-term health and wellness are priorities for this cohort, as are maintaining high levels of fitness, a connection with the natural environment, and a vibrant, active lifestyle. These attributes informed every aspect of KGRW design, from master-planning and siting to interior design.

When completed, Summit Vista will be a 1750-unit campus style community with a 300-unit assisted living and memory care building. Now under construction in Phase 1 is a residential building with 115 apartment homes, plus a 60,000 square-foot clubhouse that contains three restaurants, a coffee shop, market, bank, swimming pool, and wellness and fitness components. The first residents will move in in October 2018.

A design sensibility targeted to Boomers and master-planning that takes full advantage of the beautiful natural backdrop of the Salt Lake Valley have contributed to strong sales. The average age of incoming residents is 74 years old in contrast to the national median age of 81 years old. That means the project can draw from a larger pool of potential residents. Summit Vista’s initial success has prompted construction of Phase 2—an additional building with 100 apartment homes—to begin in May 2018, ahead of schedule.

For Summit Vista Life Plan Community, KGRW provided master planning, entitlement, programming, architectural and interior design, and ongoing construction administration. The completed community will include independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing and rehabilitation units in support of the high-level service and amenities next-generation retirees demand.
