North Bay Camp
An interactive campus for environmental studies, North Bay invites middle-school kids to learn in settings outside the classroom. It includes unique gathering spaces, cabins, staff quarters, an observation tower, offices, a catering kitchen and more. KGRW principals were responsible for master planning, programming, entitlement, and hiring and management of the design and construction teams. Awards include National AIA Design Excellence in Educational Facility Award, AIA Maryland Design Excellence Award, and AIA Baltimore Honor Award.
As its mission expanded to include corporate and church groups, North Bay commissioned KGRW to add an education building to the campus. The new facility, opened in 2019, contains a large classroom/meeting room, pre-function space, wet lab, classroom, warming kitchen and support space. The design includes an ideally oriented solar panel array and rainwater harvesting for sustainability and student education.
